Overview

We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and proactive Housekeeper/Cook to join a warm and well-organised private household in Chelsea. The family includes two principals, their newborn baby (cared for by a full-time Nanny), and two affectionate cats. You will work alongside the existing full-time Housekeeper, who is present Monday to Friday. This role covers four days, including weekends, with two overlapping days for teamwork and continuity. Excellent communication, a cooperative mindset, and a consistently high standard of care are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full housekeeping duties: cleaning, tidying, dusting, vacuuming, and maintaining high standards across all six floors
  • Laundry and ironing, including care for delicate, designer, and high-end garments
  • Changing bed linens and ensuring household organisation is maintained
  • Preparing simple, healthy, family-style meals
  • Running light errands and providing flexible support where needed
  • Working closely with the full-time Housekeeper to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Supporting the smooth running of a well-managed and respectful home

Additional Responsibilities (Desirable)

  • House and pet sitting during family holidays (typically up to two weeks), with additional pay
  • Administering insulin injections to one of the family’s cats — full training will be provided

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in private households, ideally with longevity in previous roles
  • Non Smoker
  • Excellent housekeeping and laundry skills with a high attention to detail
  • Trustworthy, discreet, and professional with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Comfortable around newborns (no direct childcare duties required)
  • Confident and friendly around pets, especially cats
  • Good level of spoken and written English preferred
  • A strong team player with clear communication and a collaborative approach
  • Flexible, dependable, and looking for a long-term position
