History Teacher - Secondary School - Kingston upon Thames

You will teach History across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering lessons that combine strong subject knowledge with opportunities for students to analyse evidence, interpret historical events and construct well-supported arguments.
The KS3 curriculum will provide students with a broad understanding of significant periods and developments, while KS4 teaching will focus on preparing students for GCSE examinations. You will be expected to develop students' source analysis, interpretation and extended writing skills alongside their historical knowledge.
A strong History Teacher will be able to make lessons engaging through the effective use of primary sources, historical evidence, discussion and case studies. You will also assess student work regularly and use feedback to help pupils make clear progress.

History Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
History Degree
QTS or recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching History at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4
GCSE History experience
Strong historical knowledge
Excellent written communication skills
Confident source and interpretation teaching
Effective classroom management
Strong planning and assessment skills
Ability to challenge and support students appropriately
Salary
The salary for this History Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
