We are seeking a passionate, creative, and committed Year 2 Teacher to join a welcoming and well-regarded primary school in Teddington, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working in Key Stage 1 and is confident supporting pupils through the important transition from KS1 to lower KS2.

The school has a strong community ethos and places a high value on nurturing pupils academically, socially, and emotionally. Staff work collaboratively in a supportive environment, with approachable senior leadership and access to high-quality professional development.

As a Year 2 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum, ensuring pupils make strong progress while developing independence, confidence, and a love of learning. The school encourages creative teaching approaches and provides strong support with planning, assessment, and behaviour management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Year 2 curriculum

  • Prepare pupils for end-of-key-stage assessments in a supportive and balanced way

  • Assess, track, and monitor pupil progress effectively

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment

  • Promote positive behaviour and high expectations

  • Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and school events

  • Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)

  • Have recent experience teaching in KS1, ideally Year 2

  • Have a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and assessment

  • Be enthusiastic, organised, and reflective in practice

  • Have strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Be committed to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing

  • Be dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

The school is conveniently located in Teddington, with good transport links and a friendly local community. Staff benefit from a supportive working culture and opportunities for professional growth.
