Independent Sexual Violence Advocate
Maintain a caseload and deliver needs-led, trauma-informed interventions.
Support clients in engaging with the criminal justice system, including police processes, court attendance, and post-trial support.
Offer support around access to Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs), forensic medical exams, and other relevant health services.
Assist clients with safety planning and access to housing, welfare, and legal remedies.
Work in partnership with external agencies to ensure joined-up care and safeguarding.
Maintain accurate and confidential records on a case management system in line with GDPR and service policies.
Essential Skills and Experience: Experience supporting survivors of sexual violence in an advocacy or support role.
Knowledge of the impacts of sexual violence on LGBTQ+ individuals and the unique barriers they may face.
Understanding of safeguarding best practice (for both children and adults at risk).
Ability to manage a busy caseload and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong partnership working skills and experience working within multi-agency settings.
Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of trauma-informed, person-centred, and empowerment-based support models. This is a vital role within a dedicated LGBTQ+ advocacy team, supporting survivors through complex and sensitive experiences. The successful candidate will bring professionalism, empathy, and a strong understanding of the needs of LGBTQ+ communities affected by sexual violence.
