Site Supervisor Role in a Good Secondary School

About the Role

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the school site, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to a high standard.

Working closely with the Site Manager and wider premises team, you will carry out routine maintenance, oversee site security, complete health and safety checks, assist with contractor supervision, and prepare classrooms and communal areas for daily use and school events.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to an organised and practical individual who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in maintaining high-quality facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the daily management of the school site and facilities

  • Carry out minor repairs and planned maintenance tasks

  • Complete regular health and safety and compliance checks

  • Assist with opening and securing the school premises

  • Supervise contractors working on site

  • Set up rooms and facilities for lessons, meetings, and school events

  • Report maintenance issues and monitor repair work

  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a site, caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role

  • Good practical maintenance and DIY skills

  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience working within a school or educational environment

  • IOSH or other relevant health and safety qualification

  • Knowledge of building maintenance and statutory compliance

  • Experience supervising contractors and site security procedures
