We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to support a high-profile public sector initiative focused on the future of retail payments infrastructure in the UK.
This is a strategic, insight-driven role where you will shape next-generation payment systems, influence senior stakeholders, and contribute to nationally significant technology outcomes.
The Role
You will operate at a strategic level, producing high-level designs and recommendations that will help define the future of retail payments. This role combines architecture, service design, and policy-aligned technology strategy .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-level enterprise architecture designs for modern payment systems
- Analyse complex challenges and produce clear, strategic recommendations
- Research best practices across payment ecosystems and comparable industries
- Design end-to-end user journeys and service experiences
- Engage with industry stakeholders to understand needs and processes
- Produce thought leadership papers to influence decision-making forums
- Collaborate with design authorities and delivery teams to ensure alignment
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in Enterprise Architecture & high-level design
- Knowledge of retail payments systems/financial infrastructure
- Experience with service design and user journey mapping
- Ability to analyse complex problems and evaluate strategic options
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and gaining buy-in
Desirable
- Background in architecture or design disciplines
- Experience delivering large-scale or public sector programmes
- Direct experience with payments systems or financial regulation
