Programme Overview
Jump-start your legal career through CMS’s minimum 36-month Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship. One day per week is dedicated to university studies at the University of Law, while the rest of the week involves real-world legal work across CMS’s practice areas. You’ll also attend induction events to fully integrate into the firm from day one. Applications open 9 February 2026.
What You’ll Do
- Work in CMS’s London office (2025 intake) while studying for your SQE
- Experience a structured programme blending academic learning with hands-on legal work
- Receive guidance from a supervisor, university tutor, mentor, buddy, and your Emerging Talent Team
Who We’re Looking For
- Graduates with a non-law degree—not having taken GDL, PGDL, LPC, or SQE
- Final-year non-law students or career changers meeting academic criteria (2:2 degree, GCSEs in English and Maths, 3 A-levels at grade C/4 or equivalent)
Duration & Location
- Minimum 36 months in London (for 2025)
- Fully integrated qualification pathway—you’ll graduate as a solicitor (once the SQE is complete and training is fulfilled)
Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary differs by location:
- London: around £36,500
- Bristol: around £31,000
- Manchester/Sheffield: around £28,000
- 25 days’ paid holiday per year plus full benefits
- No tuition or exam fees—earn while you learn
