Senior Infrastructure Architect (IT)

CGI
London

At CGI, you?ll shape the infrastructure foundations that enable complex digital solutions to perform securely, reliably and at scale. As a Senior Infrastructure Architect, you?ll take ownership of defining and assuring infrastructure across bids, deals and projects, translating business needs into practical architectures that balance performance, cost and risk. You?ll have the freedom to evaluate emerging technologies, challenge established thinking and influence key technical decisions, while collaborating with solution architects, delivery teams and clients. Supported by CGI?s wider community of experts, you?ll share your knowledge, develop others and help turn innovative ideas into high-quality infrastructure solutions that create lasting value for our clients. CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK ?Best Employer? by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner not just an employee. We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you?ll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We?ll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position with expectation of working 2/3 days a week in our London Office. Candidate profile: In this role, you will take ownership of defining, validating and communicating infrastructure architectures across bids, deals and projects. Acting as the link between Solution Architects, development teams, business stakeholders and project management, you?ll translate requirements into logical infrastructure models, component specifications and detailed designs that can be successfully implemented. You?ll lead infrastructure thinking while drawing on expertise from CGI colleagues, suppliers and specialist teams. You?ll have the opportunity to explore new technologies, challenge assumptions and recommend approaches that improve performance, scalability and value. You?ll also support colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing, contributing to a collaborative environment where technical expertise can develop and thrive.

  • Architect & Define ? Develop logical infrastructure models, component specifications and detailed designs aligned with the overall solution architecture.
  • Lead & Influence ? Act as the focal point for infrastructure design and provide clear technical direction across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Assess & Innovate ? Evaluate current and emerging technologies, advising on suitability, price, performance and potential business benefits.
  • Align & Advise ? Ensure infrastructure decisions support client objectives while managing stakeholder expectations throughout delivery.
  • Assure & Review ? Support formal and informal technical reviews to maintain the quality and integrity of infrastructure designs.
  • Manage & Mitigate ? Own infrastructure concerns and architectural decisions, contributing to technical risk management and mitigation.
  • Optimise & Scale ? Address non-functional requirements including availability, scalability, capacity and performance.
  • Plan & Estimate ? Consolidate infrastructure effort and cost estimates from teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate & Deliver ? Work closely with project managers and specialist architects to coordinate resources and support successful delivery.
  • Mentor & Develop ? Share architectural expertise and support the professional development of colleagues.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role You?ll bring strong experience designing enterprise infrastructure solutions and the ability to turn complex business and technical requirements into clear, implementable architectures. You should be comfortable owning architectural decisions, influencing stakeholders and balancing quality, performance, commercial considerations and risk while working collaboratively across technical and delivery teams.
