Geography Teacher

You would be joining a well-established Geography department within an ambitious Independent School where students are encouraged to develop a genuine curiosity about the world around them. The department combines strong academic teaching with practical fieldwork, current geographical issues and opportunities for students to apply their knowledge beyond the classroom.

The curriculum covers both physical and human Geography, including natural hazards, ecosystems, climate change, urban environments, global development and resource management. Students are encouraged to analyse geographical data, interpret maps, evaluate different viewpoints and develop well-supported arguments in preparation for GCSE and A-Level examinations.

The department places a strong emphasis on fieldwork and enrichment. Students benefit from opportunities to undertake local investigations, geographical projects, educational visits and wider environmental initiatives. The successful teacher will be encouraged to bring their own ideas to the department and contribute to the continued development of an engaging and ambitious curriculum.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues in a supportive environment where planning, assessment and resources are shared. The School provides excellent CPD, an established ECT programme and opportunities for teachers to progress into additional responsibilities and leadership positions.

Geography Teacher - Experience and Qualifications

  • Geography Degree

  • QTS

  • Experience teaching Geography at secondary level

  • Experience teaching GCSE Geography

  • A-Level Geography experience desirable

  • Strong subject knowledge across physical and human Geography

  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Commitment to student achievement and inclusion

Salary

The salary for this Geography Teacher position will be paid to scale on a contract to scale MPS/UPS.
