What You Will Do
\nJohnson Controls is hiring a Fire Alarm Service Engineer for a static on‑site role at a major facility in Ashford, Kent . We are seeking a candidate with strong experience in fire alarm systems , along with a willingness to develop further in gas suppression technologies .
\n \nYou will join a dedicated on‑site team responsible for the servicing, preventative maintenance, routine servicing, fault‑finding, and remedial works associated with site‑wide fire detection, gas suppression, and passive/mechanical fire protection systems. Daily client interaction is required to ensure smooth operations, clear communication, and adherence to strict site safety and operational protocols.
\n \nTypical systems include:
\n- \n
- Conventional & addressable fire detection and alarm systems \n
- Networked systems and graphical interfaces \n
- Gas extinguishing systems (Argonite, CO₂, Inergen, Novec) \n
- Mechanical fire suppression equipment \n
You will take personal ownership of service delivery, quality, and safety, acting as a role model for best practice and advising the client on remedial actions and potential system upgrades.

How You Will Do It
\n- \n
- Service, maintain, and fault‑find on fire detection and fire alarm systems \n
- Receive training and development in gas suppression and mechanical suppression systems \n
- Carry out integrity testing (training provided if required) \n
- Complete all service documentation accurately using an iPad and service software \n
- Liaise with the client to obtain permits to work and ensure compliance with site procedures \n
- Attend mandatory training and maintain required certifications \n
- Support occasional mechanical and passive fire protection tasks \n
- Participate in the on‑call rota on a rotating weekly basis \n
- Identify, escalate, and report health and safety concerns promptly \n
- Conform to all QEHS regulations and contribute to a zero‑harm workplace \n
- Sign onto RAMS, PPE requirements, toolbox talks, van audits, and accident investigations \n
- Take part in internal technical audits and continuous improvement activities \n
- Coach and support apprentices and new starters \n
- Act as a key link between the client and the Field Line Manager, ensuring clear communication of completed works and outstanding actions \n
- Represent Johnson Controls with professionalism, accountability, and inclusivity \n
What We Look For
\nRequired
\n- \n
- Proven experience working with fire detection and fire alarm systems \n
- Experience within a service‑focused business \n
- Good understanding of gas suppression systems and their maintenance \n
- Technical knowledge of fire legislation, standards, and associated field devices \n
- Integrity testing experience (or willingness to train) \n
- Excellent communication and customer service skills \n
- Strong IT literacy \n
- Full UK driving licence \n
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team \n
- Willingness to travel for training \n
- Ability to participate in the out‑of‑hours callout rota \n
- Ability to pass enhanced security vetting (Disclosure Scotland, enhanced screening, high‑security site checks) \n
