A successful and well-established secondary school in Croydon is seeking to appoint an experienced Attendance Officer to join its pastoral team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026.
Attendance plays a vital role in ensuring every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential, and the school is looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and ambitious school where strong relationships with students, families and staff are central to its success.
Working closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams and external agencies, the successful candidate will take ownership of attendance monitoring, helping to identify trends, improve punctuality and support students whose attendance may be causing concern.
The Role
The Attendance Officer will lead the school's day-to-day attendance processes, ensuring accurate record keeping while promoting excellent attendance across the school community.
Key responsibilities will include:
Monitoring daily attendance and following up on unexplained absences

Liaising with external agencies where additional support is required
Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's MIS
Supporting attendance meetings and preparing relevant documentation
Promoting a positive culture of attendance throughout the school
Ensuring attendance procedures remain compliant with statutory guidance
About the School

The Successful Candidate
The school is keen to hear from organised and approachable professionals with previous experience in attendance, pastoral support, school administration or a similar role.
Excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability and confidence when building relationships with students, parents and external professionals are essential. Previous experience within a school setting and familiarity with school MIS systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
