Service Owner (SDR)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Owner – Smart Data Repository (Grade 13) to join our Data Products team on a permanent basis. This role is central to ensuring the successful operational delivery of Elexon's Smart Data Repository (SDR) , providing secure, reliable and high-performing data services that support customers, industry participants and the future of Great Britain's energy market.
You'll play a key role in leading the operational management of the Smart Data Repository, working closely with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders to ensure service excellence, operational resilience and continuous improvement. Combining service leadership with commercial oversight, you'll help shape the future of one of Elexon's most important data platforms, supporting the transition to Net Zero .
What you'll do:
As Service Owner – Smart Data Repository , you'll take ownership of the operational delivery of the SDR service, ensuring it performs against business objectives, contractual commitments and customer expectations.
Lead the operational delivery of the Smart Data Repository, ensuring services are secure, reliable and meet agreed SLAs and KPIs .
Manage and develop a team of Service and Data Analysts, creating a high-performing, customer-focused environment.
Partner with the Product Owner to influence the product roadmap, ensuring operational requirements and customer feedback shape future enhancements.
Manage third-party suppliers , holding them accountable for service performance, incident resolution and continual improvement.
Oversee service operations , including platform availability, data ingestion, access provisioning and operational governance.
Own operational budgets , ensuring services are delivered efficiently while maintaining value for money.
Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and regulatory stakeholders, acting as a trusted point of contact for operational matters.
Lead the management of major incidents, service issues and business continuity planning , ensuring risks are mitigated and services remain resilient.
Review and improve operational policies, procedures and working practices to enhance customer experience and service performance.
Coach and mentor colleagues, driving knowledge sharing and embedding best practice across the Data Products team.
What you'll bring:
We're looking for an experienced service management leader who combines operational excellence with strong stakeholder management and commercial awareness.
Proven experience leading operational service delivery within a complex technology or data environment.
Strong knowledge of service management frameworks , such as ITIL , including incident, problem, change and service level management.
Experience managing third-party suppliers and commercial service agreements , ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Strong leadership skills, with experience developing and motivating teams to achieve excellent customer outcomes.
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to work effectively across technical teams, suppliers, customers and senior leaders.
Experience managing operational budgets, resources and service performance .
A proactive approach to continuous improvement , driving efficiencies and embedding best practice.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
Desirable experience:
Knowledge of the GB electricity market and the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) .
Experience working with data platforms, cloud technologies or large-scale operational services .
Understanding of data governance, information security and GDPR .
Experience working in Agile delivery environments .
Experience supporting strategic digital or data transformation programmes.
