Job Overview

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, class teachers, and parents, you will manage daily attendance reporting, identify patterns of absence, and implement positive interventions. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to an organized, empathetic, and proactive individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day pupil attendance tracking and maintain accurate records using school management systems

  • Conduct first-day absence calls and follow up on unexplained pupil absences promptly

  • Coordinate with parents, carers, and external local authority inclusion teams to address persistent absence

  • Prepare attendance data, audit-ready reports, and summaries for the Senior Leadership Team

  • Organize attendance panel meetings and implement rewards to celebrate positive pupil attendance

  • Maintain compliance with statutory safeguarding and attendance reporting regulations

  • Provide compassionate, professional support to families facing barriers to regular school attendance

  • Support the smooth day-to-day administrative running of the pastoral department

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as an Attendance Officer or Pastoral Administrator in a primary school setting

  • Proficiency with school management software (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, or CPOMS)

  • Strong knowledge of attendance procedures, safeguarding, and local authority reporting frameworks

  • Exceptional communication and de-escalation skills when liaising with parents and carers

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities

  • A proactive, empathetic, and flexible approach to pupil welfare
