Children Social Worker
3 months contract with local authority
Join our Child Protection and Children In Need Service Team 1, where you will play a crucial role in delivering assessment and social work services to users and carers. This position is vital in fulfilling the council's statutory duties and powers, ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children. You will work within local government guidelines, utilizing both Group and independent resources, and contribute to the timely progression of cases. Your work will be informed by the latest research to ensure effective interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and provide social work services in line with statutory duties and council policies.
- Adhere to local government guidelines and effectively utilize available resources.
- Participate in duty team or rota, handling contacts, referrals, and conducting Section 47 enquiries and child and family assessments.
- Ensure timely progression of cases, safeguarding the most vulnerable children.
- Undertake Care Proceedings and represent the Local Authority in court.
Requirements
- Stable employment history with evidence of long-term roles (ideally 24 months or more per position).
- No unexplained gaps or frequent job changes.
- Relevant and recent experience in child protection or long-term teams.
