Experienced daily nanny for family in Kensington W8 — start September

A friendly family in Kensington W8 is looking for an experienced, warm and reliable daily nanny to join us from September on a long-term basis.

We have four children, but our two eldest are away at university and boarding school. In term time you would be looking after our five-year-old daughter, with whom you would have sole charge from the school run onwards. Our thirteen-year-old son is around the house but fully independent and requires no care. During school holidays all four children are at home.

We also have a friendly, well-behaved dog. No responsibility for him — we simply need someone happy to have him around.

Our previous nanny was with us very happily for several years and has now returned home to the Philippines. We are hoping to find someone who will settle with us in the same way.

Hours

Term time: Monday to Friday, 12:00pm–7:00pm (35 hours per week).

School holidays: approximately half of each holiday is worked on extended hours (around 8:00am–7:00pm, five days, with one full day off each week). The remaining half is paid leave. Your salary is unaffected either way.

Salary and holiday

£40,000 gross per annum, paid in 12 equal monthly instalments through PAYE — equivalent to around £22 per hour on term-time hours. Approximately 6.5 weeks’ paid holiday, taken during the school holidays, which is above the statutory minimum.

Travel

We spend part of the school holidays in France and would love our nanny to join us. Flights, accommodation and expenses are covered, plus a daily allowance while abroad.

The role in a typical day

From 12:00pm: food shopping and preparing the family’s evening meal, alongside light housework connected to the children and the home — tidying, children’s laundry, kitchen.

From 5:00pm: school pick-up and sole charge of our 5-year old daughter — after-school activities, play and reading, arranging and hosting play dates, dinner, bath, and settled in bed by 7:00pm.

Cooking

Cooking is a core part of this role and we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys it. You would plan and shop for the family’s meals and cook dinner for four each day — simple, fresh home cooking rather than anything elaborate. All shopping is paid for by us, and we are happy for you to shop online or locally, whichever you prefer.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has verifiable experience as a nanny with young children
• Is a confident, willing cook and comfortable catering for a family
• Is happy around dogs
• Has the right to work in the UK (we are unfortunately unable to sponsor)
• Holds a valid passport and is happy to travel to France with us
• Can provide at least two checkable references
• Is calm, organised and uses initiative

An enhanced DBS check and paediatric first aid certificate are welcome but not essential — we are happy to arrange and fund these.
