Year 1 Teacher - Rainham
We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Rainham, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who loves Key Stage 1 education and is committed to supporting children as they transition from EYFS into more structured learning, laying strong foundations for literacy, numeracy, and social development.

The Role
As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will foster independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours while providing tailored support for pupils with diverse needs, including those with SEND and EAL. You will work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues, and parents to ensure consistency and high standards across the year group.
Your role will also involve observing and tracking pupil progress, supporting social and emotional development, and creating an inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
Deliver high-quality literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL
Support pupils’ independence, resilience, and positive behaviour
Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records
Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants and colleagues
Build strong relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback
Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and school initiatives
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are strictly followed
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1
Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be nurturing, enthusiastic, and adaptable
Show a clear understanding of early primary teaching and learning
Be reflective, proactive, and committed to professional development
Have a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing
Location
