Floor Manager - National Theatre

£38,000 per annum (£30k basic + £8k TRONC) plus benefits

NT Food & Drink is a unique and dynamic partnership driven by Levy and KERB, embedded within the National Theatre on the South Bank. Our ambition to create a world-class hospitality destination at the heart of the world's most iconic theatre is powered by our progressive people-first approach, centred on environmental and social sustainability. We celebrate inclusivity with purpose, putting the development and progression of our future leader’s centre stage. Our shared goal is to ensure all food and drink spaces support the NT's overall values, vision, and culture.

Purpose

As Floor Supervisor, you are an integral part of the front-of-house leadership team, reporting to the Restaurant Manager. You lead daily service on the floor, ensuring smooth operations and delivering consistently high levels of guest experience. This is a hands-on role where presence, energy, and attention to detail are essential. You support the training and development of the front-of-house team, manage service delivery and floor operations, and maintain a service culture aligned with our vision of World Class Hospitality. Acting as a key link between restaurant management and the wider team, you set the tone for each service and uphold the highest standards.

The restaurant is a timeless British brasserie within an iconic landmark building — a marquee restaurant and bar that reflects the high standards of the National Theatre itself. The menu showcases the very best of British produce: shellfish from Devon, Cornwall, and the north coast of Scotland, beef and lamb from the Lake District, and vegetables and salads from small organic farms across Kent. The bar offers a list of traditional cocktails alongside a large-format wine list, balancing classic varietals with modern natural wine styles.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee daily floor service, ensuring smooth, efficient operations and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership during service, setting high standards and supporting the team in real time.
  • Train, coach, and empower front-of-house staff with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to deliver consistent quality.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and detail-focused working environment that reflects company values.
  • Manage operational procedures including opening/closing, reporting, stock control, and compliance records.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and sustainability across all service areas.
  • Engage with guests, providing accurate menu/allergen information and resolving issues promptly.
  • Support the Restaurant Manager with events, promotions, and wider service or business initiatives.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a floor-based leadership or senior front-of-house role within a high-volume, quality-focused restaurant.
  • A genuine passion for creating unforgettable guest experiences and delivering service excellence every time.
  • A warm, confident communicator with natural leadership skills and the ability to inspire a team.
  • Enthusiastic knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails (WSET Level 1 or equivalent is a plus).
  • Proven ability to manage service in a fast-paced environment while keeping standards consistently high.
  • Calm, professional, and solutions-focused when challenges arise.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and proactive, with an eye for detail and consistency.
  • Open-minded, coachable, and eager to grow within the business.
  • Strong awareness of food safety, health & safety, and licensing compliance.
  • Comfortable with day-to-day admin tasks, including POS and reservations systems.
Benefits
  • Healthcare & Wellbeing - Medicash health benefits (including dental, mental health & optical for you and up to 4 children), free annual health check with Aviva Digicare, discounts at Nuffield Health & Pure Gym, and access to our Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Exclusive Perks & Discounts - Save on entertainment (up to 55% off cinema tickets), shopping (up to 15% off), Vodafone plans, and travel with top providers such as TUI & Expedia.
  • Workplace Benefits - Meals on duty, pension scheme, life assurance, and professional subscriptions paid.
  • Leave & Family Support - 23 days + bank holidays, your birthday off, extra leave after maternity return, a day off for your baby’s 1st birthday, and a holiday purchase scheme.
  • Career & Financial Support - Ongoing training & development, career pathways, financial wellbeing programme, and preferred rates on salary finance products.
  • Exclusive National Theatre discounts (15% off outlets, 25% off Bookshop, complimentary show tickets)
  • Food & drink discounts (Kerb Card: 50% off drinks, 20% off food at Seven Dials Market)
  • VIP last-minute O2 show tickets (subject to availability)
  • Discounted onsite parking (£4/day)
