Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant: Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Work 1-1 or in small group with pupils who have additional needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning
- Assist teachers with planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs
- Support with social and emotional development, promoting confidence and independence
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to teachers and parents
- Gain invaluable classroom experience that will prepare you for teacher training or a psychology-related career
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant: Who We’re Looking for
To thrive in this Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role, you should have:
- Educated to degree level (2:1 or above) in a Psychology, Education, Child Development or related subject
- A strong academic background at GCSE and A-Level
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of SEN needs and the ability to adapt teaching and support strategies
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Previous experience working with children or in SEN settings is desirable but not essential
