About the School
This well-established primary school in Richmond is seeking a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and enthusiastic early years team. The Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support learning and development in nursery and reception classes
Assist in delivering engaging play-based and structured activities
Help children develop foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning
Support children with additional needs, including SEN and EAL
Observe, monitor, and record children’s progress, providing feedback to the class teacher
Encourage independence, confidence, and curiosity in young learners
Prepare classroom resources and assist with daily routines
You will also assist with outdoor learning, creative play, and school trips, creating a safe and stimulating learning environment for all children.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting children in whole-class, small-group, and one-to-one activities
Assisting in delivering play-based learning under teacher guidance
Supporting children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
Maintaining classroom routines and organisation
Preparing resources and learning materials
Monitoring and documenting children’s progress
Supporting children with SEN, EAL, or other additional needs
Participating in staff meetings, training, and school initiatives
Assisting with school trips, events, and extracurricular activities
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for an EYFS Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience working with children aged 3–5
Understands early years pedagogy and child development principles
Is patient, nurturing, and empathetic
Has strong communication and teamwork skills
Can support children with SEN or EAL effectively
Demonstrates creativity in play-based learning
Is flexible and adaptable in a dynamic classroom environment
Builds positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
