Site Manager Role in an Outstanding All-Through School
An Outstanding All-Through School in Southwark is seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of its extensive school site. About the Role
The successful candidate will lead the operational management of the school's buildings and grounds, ensuring the site is maintained to the highest standards while meeting all statutory health and safety requirements.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, manage contractors, coordinate compliance checks, supervise the premises team, and contribute to ongoing estates improvement projects. You will also be responsible for ensuring site security, supporting emergency procedures, and maintaining a safe environment for the entire school community.
This is a varied leadership role suited to a highly organised individual with strong technical knowledge and experience managing busy educational or commercial premises.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day management of the school site and premises team
Coordinate planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs
Manage external contractors and monitor service level agreements
Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and statutory inspections
Maintain accurate compliance records and site documentation
Oversee site security, access control, and emergency procedures
Support facilities budgets and capital improvement projects
Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across the school campus

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in site, premises, estates, or facilities management
Strong knowledge of building maintenance, compliance, and health and safety legislation
Experience managing contractors and supervising site staff
Excellent organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to operational demands
Desirable
Experience working within a school or educational environment
IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification
Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities within schools
Experience managing facilities budgets and estates improvement projects
