We are now looking for our next Accountant & Tax Specialist — a key member of our London HQ Finance Team who will ensure financial excellence, compliance, and operational efficiency across the business.
About the Role – Accountant & Tax Specialist

As our Accountant & Tax Specialist , you will play a critical role in managing accounting operations, statutory compliance, taxes, financial reporting, forecasting, and day-to-day treasury activities. You will ensure our financial foundation is accurate, compliant, and scalable while working closely with the Finance Manager and Managing Director.
This is a role where you will own the finance cycle end-to-end — from bookkeeping all the way to reporting, tax submissions, analysis, and cashflow control .
What You Will Do
Bookkeeping & Financial Accounting
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping, journal entries, and daily transaction recording.
- Maintain the General Ledger and classify all income/expenses accurately.
- Complete month-end close, including P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Record payroll entries and reconcile payroll returns and taxes.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements.
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process purchase orders, verify costs, and match invoices with goods received.
- Enter AP invoices, manage approvals, and execute supplier payments.
- Process employee expenses, T&E, credit card transactions, and supplier reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate overheads and supplier documentation.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Prepare and issue customer invoices, refunds, and credit notes (Xero).
- Record and reconcile customer payments and manage debtor ledgers.
- Perform AR analysis, collections follow-ups, and recovery actions.
- Support revenue processes to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
Treasury & Cashflow
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain daily treasury controls.
- Manage deposits, transfers, and supplier payment runs; reconcile credit cards.
- Prepare, monitor, and update cashflow forecasts.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities and support financial efficiency.
Tax Compliance & Regulatory Filings
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax workpapers and file tax returns on time.
- Maintain the tax database and statutory documentation.
- Research tax regulations and recommend best-practice approaches.
- Liaise with auditors, solicitors, and tax authorities.
- Support tax audits, inspections, and statutory reviews.
Financial Reporting & Planning
- Produce financial reports, dashboards, P&L, and Balance Sheet statements.
- Analyse financial data to generate insights for decision-making.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and reforecast processes.
- Prepare debtors, creditors, and cashflow reports.
- Contribute to decisions that improve profitability and financial performance.
Administration & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate filing and record-keeping for all financial and statutory documents.
- Support updates to procedures, policies, and systems to enable scalability.
- Assist with finance administration, including creditor/debtor management and invoicing compliance.
We Are Searching for You…
A talented professional with 3–5 years of experience in accounting, tax compliance, and finance operations , ideally in a corporate or public practice environment. Someone who is:
- Highly organised, analytical, and detail-oriented.
- Proactive, accountable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong in communication and relationship-building across teams and stakeholders.
- Confident with financial systems (Xero experience a plus) and advanced Excel skills.
- Capable of translating financial and tax insights into practical business recommendations.
- A positive, collaborative team player with strong problem-solving skills.
The Ideal Candidate
- 3–5 years in accounting, tax, or finance roles
- Strong understanding of statutory accounting & tax requirements
- Experience preparing and submitting tax returns
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Commercial awareness and ability to interpret financial data
- Highly organised, resilient, and deadline-driven
- Team-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
Role Details
- Salary Range: £38,000 – £40,000
