SSC Assistant - Audit Support

You'll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with., You'll be at the heart of our Audit Support Hub, taking on a variety of tasks. Your role will involve coordinating bank letter confirmations, ensuring accuracy and consistency, handling valuations, file reviews, and summarising SOC reports. You'll also be the go-to person for requestors, ready to tackle any queries and deliver top-notch service, always keeping the client and quality front and centre. Our team is part of BDO's fast-growing Shared Service Centre. As a member of the SSC, you'll work internally, providing support to the client facing members of the firm. The Role: This will be a challenging and rewarding role where your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Ensure timely production and dispatch of bank letter confirmations, engage proactively with banks to resolve queries, and liaise with Audit Team members to gather and communicate key information.
  • Support the casting & consistency service line which involves verifying company details, ensuring numbers total correctly, checking prior year figures, and confirming statutory information with Companies House.
  • Use external applications like Hedgebook for valuations, aiding in auditing fair value for financial reporting.
  • Support external file reviews by supervising access to files and assisting reviewers in navigating through the file.
  • Prepare jobs of varying complexity and performing in line with quality expectations, being receptive with feedback.
  • Maintain and update tools like ServiceNow, PowerApps, and PowerBI, ensuring accuracy at all times.
  • Handle routine enquiries from requestors, focusing on client service excellence.
  • Ensure all output meets firm standards and confidentiality is always upheld.
  • Contribute to team meetings and support the development of new projects and enhanced service lines.
  • Support new team members by assisting with buddying and providing feedback to others.

  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude towards change
  • High standard of communication, both verbal and written
  • Excellent attention to detail, literacy & numeracy skills
  • IT skills - strong working knowledge of MS Office (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams) and similar desktop applications. Willingness to learn new systems is essential
  • Strong time management, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise and complete tasks with limited supervision
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to use own initiative and take a flexible 'can do' approach
  • Advantageous
  • Previous experience of the audit related tasks
  • Experience in a professional environment
  • Experience in either audit or finance is advantageous
  • Degree or equivalent, particularly in a finance-related qualification
  • Other requirements:
  • Must be able to travel into the Glasgow office when required - currently this is twice per week but may be subject to change
