The Role

As an Oxbridge Graduate Teaching Assistant , you will provide targeted, high-level academic support to GCSE and A-Level students within your subject specialism (e.g. Mathematics, English, Sciences, Humanities ). Working with small groups, you will help pupils refine exam technique, deepen subject knowledge, and develop the independent learning skills required for top grades.

This role offers first-hand experience within a mainstream secondary school setting and is ideal preparation for future pathways into teacher training, academia, or education leadership .

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-level academic mentoring to high-achieving GCSE and A-Level students.
  • Plan and lead small-group intervention sessions focused on exam performance and mastery.
  • Support advanced subject content, critical thinking, and exam strategy.
  • Provide detailed, constructive feedback to help students progress from high to exceptional grades .
  • Work closely with subject teachers to ensure mentoring aligns with exam board specifications.
  • Promote academic confidence, discipline, and intellectual ambition.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an Oxbridge graduate (or equivalent top-tier university).
  • Possess exceptional subject knowledge in a core academic discipline.
  • Have a strong academic record at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Be a confident and articulate communicator who can engage highly motivated learners.
  • Be considering a career in teaching, lecturing, research, or education leadership .
