Personal Tax Manager
Personal Tax Manager | Top 30 Firm | City of London | Up to £70,000 + Benefits
Full-time or Part-time (3-4 days/week) | Hybrid Working
A leading Top 30 firm is seeking an experienced Personal Tax Manager to join its Private Client Tax team in the City. This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with genuine variety, real advisory exposure, and the flexibility to work full-time or part-time.
Unlike typical compliance-heavy roles, this offers a true 50/50 split between advisory and compliance - giving you the chance to develop your technical expertise while taking ownership of meaningful client relationships.
The Personal Tax Manager Role:
You'll manage a diverse portfolio - HNWIs, non-doms, trusts, partnerships, international clients - handling everything from compliance through to complex advisory work. You'll also mentor junior staff and work closely with partners on high-value projects. Day-to-day you'll be:
- Managing compliance for a varied client base and reviewing personal tax returns
- Leading advisory work on non-dom issues, CGT, IHT, trusts and shareholder planning
- Acting as key client contact across phone, email and face-to-face meetings
- Providing technical support and mentoring to junior team members
- Identifying tax planning opportunities and supporting consultancy projects
- Overseeing billing, workflow and portfolio admin
This suits someone ready to step up, expand their advisory skills and take ownership of high-quality client relationships.
About You:
You thrive on variety and you're ready for the next step. You work confidently with minimal supervision, you're comfortable making decisions independently, and you're keen to develop both your technical expertise and leadership skills.
You'll bring:
- Strong personal tax experience in both compliance and advisory
- Solid technical knowledge across UK tax - non-dom, CGT, IHT, trusts
- Client management skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly
- Experience reviewing junior work and supporting team development
- ATT or CTA qualification (or strong QBE candidates will be considered)
- CCH Personal Tax experience is useful but not essential
You enjoy the intellectual challenge of advisory work but also appreciate the structure of managing a compliance portfolio. You're commercially minded, detail-oriented, and motivated by making a real impact for clients.
The Culture:
This firm has a genuinely excellent reputation for looking after its people. The culture is supportive, sociable and collaborative, with real emphasis on development and progression.
The Private Client Tax team is close-knit - partners, directors, senior managers, managers and CTA-studying seniors - handling interesting work year-round with a strong team spirit.
You'll enjoy:
- Regular social events and team activities
- Summer and Christmas parties
- Sports and wellbeing initiatives
- Clear progression pathways with experienced leadership
- A lively, modern City office with excellent transport links
The firm values work-life balance, which is why part-time arrangements are genuinely on the table for the right person.
What's Included:
- Salary up to £70,000 depending on experience
- Full-time or part-time options (3-4 days/week)
- 25 days annual leave + pension
- Hybrid working: 3 days office, 2 days home
- Real advisory exposure and genuine progression opportunities
- Supportive, modern City environment
Next Steps:
Two-stage interview process - preferably in person, virtual available if needed.
If you're an experienced personal tax professional looking for autonomy, variety, genuine advisory work and the flexibility to shape a role around your lifestyle, this is an excellent opportunity with a Top 30 firm that genuinely invests in its people.
