Portfolio Manager - London
Career
We're looking for an ambitious Portfolio Manager within our London office. From day one, you'll take responsibility for your own portfolio of clients, giving you the opportunity to build trusted relationships, develop your investment expertise, and make a measurable impact on client outcomes.
Working closely with the Head of Office, you'll benefit from hands-on mentoring, increasing responsibility, and exposure to a broad range of discretionary investment clients. This role forms an important part of our long-term growth and succession plans across our London team.

About the role
As a Portfolio Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering excellent client service, maintaining strong relationships with Financial Planners and clients and contributing to business development activities to grow assets under management.
The role combines portfolio management responsibilities with operational, client servicing and investment support activities, providing broad exposure to all aspects of wealth and investment management.
Accountabilities
Client & Portfolio Management
Manage and review client portfolios, ensuring investment strategies remain aligned to client objectives, risk profiles, suitability requirements, and regulatory standards.
Deliver tailored investment advice and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and their representatives through regular communication and reviews.
Ensure a high standard of client service while monitoring portfolio performance, risk, and wider financial planning considerations.
Business Development & Relationship Growth
Develop and maintain relationships with professional introducers, including financial advisers, solicitors, and accountants, to generate new business opportunities.
Contribute to the growth of assets under management through networking, referrals, and cross-selling appropriate products and services.
Support local marketing initiatives and represent the business professionally at client and networking events.
Compliance, Risk & Leadership
Act in accordance with FCA regulations, internal policies, Treating Customers Fairly principles, and the firm's compliance framework.
Identify, monitor, and mitigate operational and regulatory risks while ensuring accurate record keeping and high-quality client documentation.
Support the Head of Office, collaborate with internal teams, contribute to colleague development, and assist in the delivery of business improvement initiatives.
Skills and Experience
CISI Diploma in Investment Advice, CISI Level 6 Diploma in Wealth Management, or an equivalent professional qualification, with a minimum of three years' experience in portfolio management, investment management, or wealth management.
Strong knowledge of investment markets, portfolio construction, risk management, suitability requirements, and FCA regulatory standards.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to explain complex investment concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.
Proven ability to deliver outstanding client service, build trusted relationships, and identify opportunities to grow assets under management.
Strong organisational, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high levels of accuracy.
Professional, collaborative, and results-focused, demonstrating integrity, sound judgement, initiative, and a commitment to treating customers fairly.
