The Opportunity
Wayman Education is seeking an efficient and detail-oriented Finance Officer for an immediate start at a prestigious school in Hammersmith. This is a key role within the school’s central administration team, ensuring the smooth operation of all financial processes and contributing to the overall fiscal health of the institution.
The Role
As the Finance Officer, you will manage day-to-day financial transactions and provide essential support to the School Business Manager. This role requires high levels of accuracy, a methodical approach to bookkeeping, and the ability to maintain clear communication with staff and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage supplier payments, and oversee the collection of school fees or trip payments.
Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of school accounts and petty cash, ensuring all records are up to date and accurate.
Payroll Support: Assist in the preparation of monthly payroll data, including managing overtime claims and pension contributions.
Budget Monitoring: Support department heads in tracking their spending against set budgets and providing monthly expenditure reports.
Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts and provide documentation for internal and external financial audits.

Requirements
Proven experience in a finance or bookkeeping role (previous experience in a school setting is highly advantageous).
Strong proficiency in accounting software (such as Sage, FMS, Xero, or PSF).
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
A relevant finance qualification (AAT Level 3 or higher is preferred).
High level of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive financial data with confidentiality.
An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one immediately).
