Maintenance Operative
Location: Belgravia, London (Live-out)
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm (Flexibility required when the principals are in residence)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £45,000+ DOE
Our client is seeking an experienced, proactive and hands-on Maintenance Operative to oversee the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of a prestigious private residence in Belgravia.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and self-motivated individual who takes genuine pride in maintaining a property to the highest standards. Working alongside an established household team, you will be responsible for ensuring the home operates seamlessly by carrying out preventative maintenance, completing repairs and independently identifying areas that require attention. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, using their initiative, and keeping a luxury residence in exceptional condition without the need for constant direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of a prestigious private residence
- Carry out a wide range of general handyman and maintenance duties to a high standard
- Complete minor plumbing and electrical repairs, including lighting, sockets, taps, fittings and leaks
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure the property remains in excellent condition
- Proactively identify maintenance issues and improvement opportunities before they become problems
- Undertake small installation, repair and refurbishment projects with care and attention to detail
- Respond efficiently to ad hoc maintenance requests, particularly when the principals are in residence
- Liaise with and oversee external contractors, ensuring work is completed to the expected standard
- Maintain organised records of completed works and future maintenance requirements
- Ensure all work is carried out safely, professionally and with minimal disruption to the household
- Provide occasional out-of-hours or weekend assistance when required
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience in a handyman, maintenance or property maintenance role
- Experience working within a private household, luxury residence or high-end hospitality environment is highly desirable
- Confident carrying out general household plumbing and electrical repairs
- Trade qualifications or gas qualifications are advantageous but not essential
- A proactive, self-motivated individual who enjoys working independently and taking ownership of their workload
- Able to identify tasks that need completing without waiting for instruction
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach
- High attention to detail with pride in maintaining exceptional standards
- Discreet, trustworthy and respectful of working within a private household
- Flexible, adaptable and willing to assist with a variety of maintenance tasks
- Right to work in the UK
- Fluent English preferred
