About the Role
A large and well-established school in Ilford, East London , is seeking an experienced or aspiring SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs across primary and secondary phases. The role involves supporting pupils with a wide range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, moderate learning difficulties, speech and language needs, and sensory challenges . Some pupils require consistent 1:1 support , while others benefit from structured small group interventions.

Responsibilities
Your responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant will include:
Supporting SEN pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
Assisting pupils with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs
Supporting academic progress and emotional wellbeing
Implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
Working closely with teachers to adapt learning materials
Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times
Managing behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies
Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records
Promoting independence, confidence, and resilience
Supporting personal care where necessary
Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience supporting children with SEN or vulnerable individuals
Be calm, patient, and adaptable
Have strong behaviour management skills
Be a positive role model for pupils
Work well as part of a team
Be committed to inclusive education
This role is suitable for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants as well as graduates or individuals from care or support backgrounds looking to enter education.
