About Us
The King’s College London and Guy’s & St Thomas PET Centre is one of the leading clinical PET centres in the UK with a large and varied clinical service and a substantial and expanding research track record. Our work includes carrying out clinically related and basic research with collaborators from the Hospital, the Medical School and other institutions as well as providing a clinical PET service for patients under the NHSE PET II national contract and. We currently scan over 8,000 patients annually, with reporting done in house by our consultants and a small team of clinical research fellows. Facilities include a cyclotron and radiochemistry facility for production of routine clinical and research radiotracers (with around 3 new radiopharmaceuticals being added per year. The scanning facility comprises 2 new Siemens Quadra long axial field-of-view (Total Body) PET (TBP) scanners (St Thomas’), making us one of only two centres in the world with this capability, a Siemens Biograph PET-CT scanner (Guy’s Cancer) and a Siemens mMR simultaneous PET-MR scanner (St Thomas’).
The PET Imaging Centre at St Thomas’ has an opening for two enthusiastic and flexible full time Clinical Fellows. The post would be suitable for a person who has recently finished training or is soon to complete training in Nuclear Medicine or Radiology with a subspecialist interest in Radionuclide Radiology.
About The Role
This is a busy clinical post based in the King’s College London & Guy’s and St Thomas’ PET Centre (hereafter known as the ‘PET Centre’) at both Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals intended to provide day to day medical cover for the service and will involve vetting, supervision, cardiac stressing and reporting of a range of PET-CT and PET-MR studies to cover oncology, neurology and cardiac applications. The post holder will be actively involved in clinical studies but also some research studies undertaken predominantly within the PET Centre. The post holder will also participate in preparation and presentation of cases for multidisciplinary meetings and PET Educational forums and have an active teaching role.
The Fellow will be expected to take part in clinical activities. Training will be given during the post to enable the post holder to fulfil these responsibilities, but it is expected that applicants will have sufficient training in Nuclear Medicine and/or Radiology to be able to perform many of these tasks from the outset.
The post holder is expected to hold a MBBS or equivalent and CCT in Nuclear Medicine or Radiology with subspecialty interest in Radionuclide Radiology or equivalent (or within 6 months of attainment at time of application). You should be highly motivated, work well within a multidisciplinary team, and be able to work to clinical and scientific deadlines. In addition you should be able to work without close supervision and plan as well as prioritise your workload.
This is a full-time post (40 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 1 year. There will be some flexibility regarding start dates.
