Temporary Payroll Officer Post
Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their busy team on a temporary basis for 6 months
Hybrid working Available
South East London
- Process high volume end-to-end monthly payroll for academic, professional services and casual staff
- Calculate salaries, overtime, enhancements, allowances and back pay
- Process leavers, starters, contract changes and salary amendments accurately and on time
- Administer Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) and/or Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), including enrolments, opt-outs and contributions
- Manage statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP
- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, PAYE, NI, RTI submissions (FPS/EPS) and year-end processing
- Input, validate and maintain payroll data across HR/Payroll systems
- Carry out payroll reconciliations, variance checks and control reports
- Support system upgrades, testing (UAT) and legislative changes
- Act as first-line contact for payroll and pension queries from employees and managers
- Resolve complex pay issues escalated from the wider payroll team
- Liaise with HR, Finance, Pensions providers and external auditors
- Produce payroll, pension and statutory reports for Finance and senior stakeholders
- Maintain payroll procedures and documentation in line with audit requirements
- Identify process improvements and support automation and efficiency initiatives
