Talent Acquisition Specialist
Contract type: Full Time (37.5 Hours) – Fixed Term (until 31/12/2026)
Location: Stratford, University of Huddersfield – London Campus
Salary: £36,000 per annum

In this role, you’ll work closely with the Talent Acquisition & Integration Manager, business stakeholders, and Talent Acquisition Specialists to deliver a smooth, high-quality hiring experience. You’ll be instrumental in strengthening our employment brand, improving recruitment and onboarding processes, and helping to build a centre of excellence within our Talent Acquisition function. From sourcing and assessing outstanding candidates to developing innovative hiring initiatives, your work will have a tangible impact on how our team grows and thrives.

ABOUT THE ROLE- Screen prospective candidates in a timely manner to evaluate skills, qualifications, and suitability for roles at our Huddersfield London campus.
- Ensure candidates are an excellent fit for both the role and the Study Group culture.
- Produce and post job adverts that attract appropriate, high-quality candidates.
- Conduct introductory screening calls focused on relevance and candidate quality.
- Create shortlists of potential candidates and present them to Hiring Managers.
- Regularly communicate with candidates and Hiring Managers to schedule interviews, advise on assessment criteria, and occasionally join panels to provide support.
- Accurately record candidate information and update progress in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Build specific talent pools using internal databases and sourcing tools for hard-to-fill roles.
- Proactively approach passive candidates for open vacancies using a variety of sourcing tools and systems.
- Align recruitment activities with Study Group’s mission, vision, values, and strategy, translating these into daily actions.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work with changing priorities and support colleagues as required.
- Manage and influence internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Work under pressure to deliver against challenging deadlines while managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve recruitment processes, increase quality of hire, and reduce non-value-added activity.
- Complete ad-hoc tasks and projects as requested by management.
- Comply with Study Group policies and applicable laws, including Workplace Health and Safety, Anti-Discrimination and Harassment, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption, and those relevant to the position.
- Academic recruitment experience is highly desirable.
- Level 3 qualification
- Recruitment qualification (desirable)
- CIPD qualification (desirable)
- Substantial experience in an in-house or RPO environment is preferred, though this is also an excellent opportunity for someone from a recruitment agency background to move in-house. Agency experience is a strength.
- Experience recruiting across multiple functions (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Admin, Operations) is also highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), CV databases, and recruitment platforms.
- Understanding of the full 360 recruitment cycle.
- Demonstrable consultative approach to managing effective candidate and stakeholder relationships.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, take ownership of tasks, and see them through to successful outcomes.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.
- Strong multitasking abilities, with a positive outlook and genuine passion for recruitment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Acute attention to detail is a must.
