An Upper Key Stage 2 Role With Challenge and Progression
We are seeking a confident, motivated, and committed Year 5 Teacher to join a well-established primary school in Finchley, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to work with pupils in Upper Key Stage 2, supporting them as they develop greater independence, critical thinking skills, and readiness for the demands of Year 6.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 5 class, delivering engaging and challenging lessons across the curriculum while maintaining a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The school values high standards, strong relationships, and consistent expectations, and is looking for a teacher who can inspire pupils to achieve their best.
You will join a collaborative KS2 team where planning is shared, ideas are valued, and staff support one another. Leadership is approachable and committed to professional development, ensuring teachers feel confident and supported in their roles.
Your Role
As the Year 5 Teacher, you will play a key role in preparing pupils academically and emotionally for the transition to Year 6. You will plan structured lessons that build on prior learning, encourage deeper thinking, and promote resilience and independence.
Working closely with teaching assistants and fellow KS2 teachers, you will ensure learning is accessible and challenging for all pupils, including those with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the Year 5 curriculum
Use assessment data to monitor progress and inform future teaching
Differentiate learning to support a wide range of abilities
Create a calm, focused, and inclusive classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour and high expectations
Support pupils with additional needs through targeted strategies
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity across Upper KS2
Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and CPD
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
A qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experienced in Key Stage 2, preferably Upper KS2 or Year 5
Confident delivering engaging and challenging lessons
Organised, reflective, and adaptable
Strong in behaviour management and classroom organisation
Committed to inclusive practice and safeguarding
Willing to contribute to the wider life of the school
Both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply, with support provided where needed.
