Experienced Veterinary Surgeon - Emergency & Surgery Focus
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-rounded, experienced GP Veterinary Surgeon to join Wanstead Hospital, part of London’s largest ECC provider. This full-time role is perfect for a vet who thrives in a hospital environment, enjoys a varied caseload, and wants to develop both surgical and medical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality care across consults, surgery, wards, and emergency cases
- Perform routine surgeries including bitch spays and dentals
- Manage emergency and critical care cases confidently
- Work collaboratively with senior medics, experienced surgeons, and nursing teams
- Participate in rota including 1:3 Saturdays, 1:6 Sundays, and up to 2 bank holidays per year
- Occasionally contribute to the last-resort on-call rotation
Requirements
- RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Competent in routine surgery and managing emergencies
- Strong medical knowledge and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership capabilities
- Flexible and adaptable, with a passion for hospital medicine
Benefits & Perks
- Salary: £45,000–£61,000 depending on experience
- 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays
- Up to £2,000 CPD allowance annually plus 5 paid CPD days
