Connect the Power of Language with the Story of Humanity

Are you a versatile and passionate educator capable of inspiring students across both the humanities and literacy? We are seeking a dynamic Teacher of English and Social Sciences to join our exceptionally supportive secondary academy in Bexley.

This unique role is perfect for a multi-talented teacher who thrives on variety. Whether you are exploring the depths of classic literature in the morning or debating societal structures, culture, and history in the afternoon, you will play a pivotal role in helping young minds understand the world-and their place within it.

We welcome applications from both experienced practitioners looking for a fresh, rewarding challenge and ambitious ECTs (Early Career Teachers) seeking a world-class start to their careers.

What We Offer
  • Competitive Salary: £37,000 to £57,000 per annum, reflecting your experience and expertise.

  • Financial Incentive: An additional £1,500 allowance.

  • Work-Life Balance: A forward-thinking leadership team committed to reducing unnecessary workload and administrative burdens.

  • Professional Development: Access to industry-leading, tailored CPD and a highly structured mentorship program.

  • Vibrant Environment: A well-resourced school with a collaborative staff culture and motivated students who are eager to learn.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in both English and Social Science subjects across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with potential for KS5 teaching).

  • Foster critical thinking, strong analytical skills, and a love for reading and societal inquiry.

  • Create an inclusive, structured, and high-achieving classroom environment.

  • Design innovative lesson plans that bridge the gap between literacy and understanding global communities.

  • Track student progress effectively, using data to implement supportive interventions where needed.

About You

We want an educator who doesn't just teach curriculum content, but teaches students how to think, question, and articulate their ideas with confidence.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.

  • A relevant degree (English, Sociology, History, Politics, or a related Social Science field) with the confidence to teach across both departments.

  • Strong classroom management skills and high expectations for student achievement and behavior.

  • Excellent communication skills to build strong relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents.

  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude.
