Job Details
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Discuss any staff deficiencies with the Registered Manager and ensure new team members are introduced according to the Common Induction Standards and Nightingale Hammerson's checklist. Manage staff effectively by planning rotas and ensuring a suitable skill mix.
- Coordinate team efforts within the unit, providing support, ensuring clear communication, and liaising with relatives and external agencies. Respect Jewish cultural practices, including food, death, and religious observances.
- Adhere to Nightingale Hammerson's health and safety regulations, including fire, accidents, and other incidents.
- Address complaints or concerns from residents, relatives, or staff in a compassionate manner, following Nightingale's Complaints Procedure, and seek senior assistance when needed.
- Implement Nightingale Hammerson’s Policies regarding attendance, leave, and discipline, ensuring staff supervision complies with CQC requirements and addressing training needs.
- Develop effective relationships with managers, clinicians, and external stakeholders,
- Maintain personal and professional development
- Engage in supervision.
- Act as a role model, promoting a philosophy of care that respects residents' individuality, dignity, privacy, and rights.
- Adhere to Nightingale Hammerson’s policies, particularly the Code of Conduct and Caldicott principles regarding sensitive information. Keep the Registered Manager informed of developments and concerns at Nightingale House. Collect, analyse, and report data to the Registered Manager or relevant parties. Participate in on-duty or out-of-hours rosters as needed. Engage in agreed performance review systems. Assist in reviewing the performance of others as required.

No role profile can cover every issue which may arise within the post at various times. The post holder is expected to carry out other duties from time to time, which are broadly consistent with those described.
Person Specification
Education:
- Health & Social Care Qualification (Essential) Certified assessor qualification (Desirable)
Knowledge and Skills required:
Knowledge of current legislation in relation to older people and current clinical practice (Essential) (eg eating and swallowing difficulties, pressure ulcers, medication management, care records) Knowledge of innovations and development with respect to older people (Essential) To have effective leadership and organisation qualities, including an in-depth knowledge of communication skills required to effectively manage staff and other resources. As well as providing reassurance where necessary to residents (Essential) Ability to work within the context of the care planning process and ensure that it is properly implemented in areas of work under the management of the postholder
Experience Required:
Relevant experience of managing staff in a social care setting caring for older people (Essential) Experience of providing support to staff (Essential) Experience of inspection process and quality assurance systems (Essential) Experience of training and development of staff, including in-service training (Essential) Knowledge of Microsoft packages. Word/Excel (Essential)
