Role Summary and Impact

The Commerce Business Director will lead the strategic development and operational enablement of Nespresso’s E-Retail Media acceleration programme, with a primary focus on Amazon as a growth engine within a broader eTrade ecosystem. This role shapes the “North Star” vision, builds playbooks and measurement standards that markets can execute, and ensures retail-aware media planning is integrated with digital shelf fundamentals to improve efficiency and business outcomes.

Working in close partnership with Nespresso HQ stakeholders and cross-functional agency specialists (media, search, analytics, data/tech), the role will translate business priorities into scalable frameworks, governance, and training—accelerating adoption of advanced capabilities such as Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC), audience strategy, and modern incrementality/halo measurement.

Responsibilities:

Lead the global E-Retail Media strategy and roadmap (Amazon-first), setting best-practice principles and a scalable operating approach for markets.

Build core enablement assets: Amazon measurement framework, budgeting methodology, and activation playbooks grounded in “retail-aware media” and digital shelf fundamentals.

Drive AMC and audience capability in partnership with data/tech teams (use cases, segmentation, targeting/suppression, readiness and integration roadmap).

Evaluate and recommend the retail media tech stack (bid management, digital shelf intelligence, reporting/analytics) and support adoption across priority markets.

Develop and deliver global capability-building (training programme, documentation, community of practice) to embed standards into ways of working.

Manage senior stakeholder relationships (Nespresso HQ, agencies, retail/platform partners) and coordinate specialist teams to deliver on time and to business objectives.

Skills and Experience

At WPP Media, we believe in the power of our culture and our people. It’s what elevates us to deliver exceptional experiences for both our clients and each other. In this role it will be critical to embrace WPP & WPP Media’s shared core values:

  • Be Extraordinary by Leading Collectively to Inspire transformational Creativity.
  • Create an Open environment by Balancing People and Client Experiences by Cultivating Trust .
  • Lead Optimistically by Championing Growth and Development to Mobilize the Enterprise .

  • Significant and relevant experience in commerce / retail media / performance marketing / eCommerce consulting, with hands-on exposure to Amazon Ads and broader retail media ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated ability to create scalable strategy-to-execution frameworks (playbooks, measurement standards, operating models) adopted across multiple markets/teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Amazon retail media and measurement, including AMC concepts (audience use cases, clean room principles, privacy-safe measurement, experimentation logic).
  • Proven expertise in measurement design: KPI taxonomy, attribution/incrementality considerations, halo measurement, and performance storytelling for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of retail and commercial drivers (availability, Buy Box, pricing, promo, margin, inventory/demand signals) and how they affect media outcomes.
  • Experience with retail media tooling (e.g. Pacvue or equivalent bid platforms), digital shelf intelligence, and analytics/reporting stacks.
  • Excellent programme leadership skills: managing interdependent workstreams, aligning stakeholders, and producing high-quality deliverables under tight timelines.
  • Confident communicator with strong facilitation, training, and presentation capability—able to simplify complex topics and drive decisions.
  • Collaborative leadership style; able to influence without authority across HQ, markets, agency teams, and platform partners.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity with a bias for action, strong problem-solving, and high attention to detail.
