Senior Associate, Private Client & Tax
Overview
A well‑established, internationally focused London law firm with a strong private wealth practice is seeking a highly capable Senior Private Client Associate (6+ PQE) with significant experience in international tax planning and cross‑border wealth structuring . This role is ideal for an experienced lawyer looking to step into greater autonomy, manage complex and often multi‑jurisdictional matters, and help mentor junior team members within a dynamic practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising HNW and UHNW individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and trustees on UK and international tax issues , including residence, domicile, and strategic pre‑arrival or exit planning.
- Leading on the establishment, restructuring, and operation of onshore and offshore trusts , foundations, family governance frameworks, and asset‑holding structures.
- Providing sophisticated advice on cross‑border estate and succession planning , including wills, letters of wishes, and multi‑jurisdictional estate strategies.
- Advising on the UK tax treatment of complex international investment structures, corporate vehicles, real estate holdings , and family office arrangements.
- Coordinating with overseas counsel, fiduciaries, tax advisers, and intermediaries on multi‑jurisdictional projects.
- Supervising and supporting junior associates and trainees, contributing to knowledge development within the team.
- Preparing complex technical memoranda, opinions, and client‑friendly guidance on evolving international tax, trust, and estate planning issues.
- Supporting partners with business development, including maintaining client relationships, attending events, and contributing to thought leadership.
About You
- Qualified solicitor with 6+ years PQE in private client, tax, or international wealth planning, gained from a reputable private wealth practice.
- Strong technical grounding in international tax planning , including residence/domicile rules, offshore structures, trust taxation, and cross‑border estate planning.
- Demonstrated experience handling complex international clients , ideally including UHNW individuals, family offices, trustees, and international families.
- Exceptional drafting and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex advice clearly and confidently.
- A collaborative team player who enjoys supervising junior colleagues and taking on leadership responsibilities.
- Commercially minded, client‑focused, and comfortable managing a significant and varied caseload autonomously.
