EYFS Teaching Assistant - Upminster
We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and nurturing EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Upminster, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about early years education and supporting children at the start of their learning journey.
The school has a strong focus on early years provision, delivering a caring, stimulating, and well-resourced EYFS environment. Staff work collaboratively to ensure children feel safe, confident, and excited about learning. Senior leadership provides support, guidance, and opportunities for professional development.
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher to support children in Nursery or Reception. You will help deliver engaging, play-based learning activities, assist with early literacy and numeracy, and support children’s social and emotional development. You may also provide additional support to children with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Support children’s learning through play-based EYFS activities
Work with small groups and individual children to support development
Assist with phonics, early reading, writing, and number work
Support children with personal care routines where required
Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social skills
Help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment
Support observations, assessments, and learning records
Assist with classroom setup, resources, and displays
Support children during transitions, outdoor learning, and playtimes
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and EYFS policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have experience working in EYFS, Nursery, or Reception settings
Be caring, patient, and enthusiastic
Have a good understanding of the EYFS framework
Be confident supporting young children’s emotional, social, and academic development
Have good communication and teamwork skills
Be proactive, reliable, and flexible
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
A relevant early years qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is desirable, but the school also welcomes candidates with strong EYFS experience and a genuine passion for early childhood education.
The school is located in Upminster, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a positive working environment where early years education is valued and supported.
