About this role:

Crystal Palace Football Club is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Building Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our Academy Training Ground in Beckenham. This will include all areas of the building a functioning in accordance with site specifications e.g. pool and spa areas.

The successful candidate will ensure the site operates to the highest standards of safety, presentation, and compliance, providing a first-class environment for players, staff, and visitors. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability, and a hands-on approach to managing on-site teams and contractors.

The successful candidate should either hold, or be willing to undertake within 6 months, a recognised pool/spa plant operations qualification (for example the STA Level 3 Award in Pool Plant Operations, the PASOQ Pool Plant Technician Certificate or equivalent) and will be responsible for ensuring pool/spa plant compliance, water quality, hygiene, and technical operation to industry standards.

Responsibilities:

Site Management & Operations:

  • Maintain consistently high standards of presentation, cleanliness, and safety compliance across all areas of the Academy Training Ground, including pool and spa facilities.

  • Conduct regular building walk-throughs, identifying and resolving maintenance or compliance issues promptly.

  • Liaise with external contractors, suppliers, and maintenance providers to ensure quality service delivery

  • Ensure all facilities are compliant with Health & Safety, safeguarding, and hygiene regulations.

  • Work closely with the Maintenance and Security teams to coordinate activities, share best practices, and align with Club-wide standards.

Pool & Spa Oversight:

  • Ensure the pool and spa areas are operated safely and in compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.

  • Monitor and maintain water quality, temperature, and hygiene standards in coordination with contractors or trained staff.

  • Maintain accurate records of pool plant operations, chemical dosing, and water testing.

  • Undertake (or be willing to undertake) a recognised Pool Plant Operator qualification to ensure compliance and best practice in pool and spa management.

Cleaning & Presentation:

  • Ensure site is well presented at all times.

  • Carry out regular quality inspections and ensure compliance with COSHH and safe working practices.

General Responsibilities:

  • Act as the on-site point of contact for all building-related matters, escalating technical or maintenance issues as required.

  • Support event and training preparation, ensuring all spaces are ready for use.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of site operations and presentation.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.

  • Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building or site management, ideally within a sports, leisure, or hospitality environment.

  • Experience managing teams in operational or cleaning roles within high-usage facilities.

  • Knowledge of pool and spa operations, with a Pool Plant Operator qualification (or willingness to undertake one).

  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH, and Environmental Health legislation.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to lead and motivate staff and liaise effectively with multiple departments and contractors.

  • IT proficiency for scheduling, reporting, and communication.

  • Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.
