Department Description
With a global footprint, the Universal Music Group Royalty and Copyright Product Team designs, develops, delivers and maintains a number of technical solutions to calculate royalty accountings in a timely and accurate manner to our valued artists. We’re also providing them with an extent and detailed visibility of these earning from various sources of digital incomes.
The team continuously collaborates with our international business teams to deliver innovative solutions as well as supporting best practices and new processes for a better royalty flow.
The Role
The Project Manager is a liaison between our business and development teams, driving software products to success by recognising strategic need and tactical goals. Managing the expectations of our stakeholders across multiple business teams is essential with a solution-oriented focus.
You are a creative thinker, a faultless communicator, quick learner and a team player. You will be the central cog between various teams and your warm personality and approachability will accelerate the flow of information around the business.
Key Responsibilities
Be Analytical
Develop a sound knowledge of the business domain
Build positive relationships with business stakeholders and development teams
Document and agree requirements with end users to form a strategic roadmap
Form up the solution and ensure that it is delivered to the development team in an appropriate form of epics, user stories, process flows and wire frames
Orchestrate development by leading a team of business analysts in the creation of tickets, estimation, sprint management and scrum master
Ability to define User Acceptance test plans
Work with the business stakeholders to triage requirements effectively to identify priorities
Assist our programme leadership in overall project management, roadmap & delivery
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
Conduct workshops, training sessions, and demonstrations to ensure user adoption and effective use of solutions
Engage with senior management to provide updates, insights, and recommendations on solution strategies and initiatives
Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and innovation across our landscape
Adaptability to shifting priorities
Be Collaborative
Collaborate with business units to gather and analyse requirements and translate them into functional and technical solutions
Provide leadership and direction to a team of business analysts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions
Collaborate with business stakeholders across our teams, to gather & analyse requirements and ensure that solutions meet their needs
Collaborate with the development teams to plan deliveries taking into account business and tech team priorities and ensure high quality of our deliverables is set and maintained.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and partners to ensure successful project execution
Skills and Experience required
Must have
A proven track record in the Software Development Lifecycle
End to end experience of the product and software lifecycles
Demonstrable evidence of analysing and documenting complex business processes / process mapping and managing stakeholders
Ability to form up solution modules into strategic roadmaps
Ability to form up the problem solution, use of wire-framing and other techniques
Ability to work with the development team and ensure on-time delivery
Results-orientated with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Able to command respect with Senior Business Managers
Ability to drive coherent product development
Ability to plan and manage a project budget
Self-starter, business focussed leader with strong initiative
Excellent and organised Project Manager
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
Nice to have
Total and certified understanding of Scaled Agile project methodology
Ability to break solutions down into project phases and sprints working in a Scaled Agile project methodology
Experienced in defining Epics and User Stories
Good understanding of data modelling and databases
Music industry business knowledge is highly desirable
Key Behavioural/Personality Traits
You will have a strong track record across the full lifecycle of projects, proving the ability to communicate with business stakeholders, understand business pain points, and be able to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of our tech projects. You will be pro-active in your approach, by pre-empting the business stakeholders’ needs or concerns and identifying and communicating best way to address these.
Patience, diplomacy, critical thinking and persistence are every step of the project phases will be required.
