Job Title : Laundry Attendant
Reports to : House Manager
Requirements : 5-6 days per week, various shifts
Salary : £45,000-£50,000 DOE

Summary

Our UHNW client is seeking a a Laundry Attendant whose overall responsibility is to wash, dry, press, pack all linens, garments, and maintain the laundry room cleanliness in a consistent and proactive manner. In addition to this, the Laundry Attendant is also managing housekeeping and laundry supplies inventories.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain complete knowledge at all times of the below, however not limited to:

  • All linens and garment type and care specification
  • All laundry chemicals and their specific uses
  • All laundry equipment and proper handling
  • Standard preparation of garments: pressing, folding, hanging, packaging
  • Sanitation and hygiene
  • Perform task in line with service standards
  • Receive garment items; check for damage, pockets, and garment care label
  • Sort items accordingly and load into the washer using appropriate chemicals
  • Dry linen and garments according to the garment care label
  • Treat linens of stains using right cleaning agent
  • Press and fold linens and garments
  • Sort garments accordingly before packing
  • Remove damaged linen from circulation and report to supervisor for inventory
  • Report maintenance issues to supervisors and see through that it is completed and done
  • Maintain proper storage of the chemicals
  • Schedule laundry and housekeeping inventory and requisition
  • Perform other laundry task as instructed by supervisor or manager
  • Coordinate with Wardrobe Stylist with all principal’s clothes that are sent out for professional cleaning
  • Keep Wardrobe Stylist informed of any damage of garment, delay of delivery, etc.
  • Assist children’s nannies to arrange children’s clothes
  • Coordinate with Laundry companies regarding laundry collection and delivery
  • Assist House Manager to review and reconsolidate monthly laundry invoices

Standard Responsibilities

  • Ensure positive communication with colleagues, ensure efficient handover, and important information passed on
  • Approach requests and tasks with sense of urgency, keep supervisor or manager informed with progress, and report issue in due course
  • Comply and adhere to policies within the household
  • Take on additional tasks, and complete within required time frame
  • Able to perform all duties in Laundry Department when and if required
  • Adhere Golden Rule (to treat others as we’d wish to be treated) while interacting with guest visitors, colleagues, as well as agency staff members
  • Report to work as per Rota arrangement
  • Flexible with shift and working hour according to house operation
  • Adhere to grooming standard and to dress code

Personal Specification

  • Professional experience in a similar role
  • COSHH training is desirable
  • Manual Handling training is desirable

Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities

  • Previous professional experience in a private household or 5* hotel
  • The ability to sustain the demands of the role
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong supplier relationships
