Job Overview
An international, English-speaking group is seeking an Accounting Manager – France , based in London (Aldgate) , to take full responsibility for the French accounting function.
The role covers 5–6 French legal entities , representing approximately 130 employees , and reports into a Paris-based finance team , while working closely with shared service centres and US stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accountant experienced in full and complex accounts , looking to develop their career within a large, US-owned multinational group .
The role does not include direct people management .
Key Objectives
- Ensure accuracy of financial results for French legal entities
- Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
- Manage statutory filings, local tax matters and support transfer pricing documentation with external advisors
- Ensure profit and loss accounts and balance sheets comply with French GAAP and US GAAP
- Ensure all reconciliations completed by shared service centres are accurate and delivered on time
- Maintain strong expertise in French VAT, French payroll and social charges
- Work closely with AP and AR shared service centres to ensure smooth operations
- Support local management on finance and tax related projects
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and finance and tax specialists
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise month-end close and accounting reconciliations
- Prepare and close statutory accounts and group reporting packs under local GAAP and US GAAP
- Control all VAT and corporate tax obligations
- Act as primary contact for shared service centres on accounting and administrative matters
- Maintain, optimise and control financial and administrative processes in line with internal audit requirements
About You
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a responsible accounting role within a structured international business
- Proven ability to manage full and complex accounts autonomously
- Strong experience with French VAT and French payroll
- Experience within a US-owned or US-reporting environment is highly desirable
- Strong organisational skills, proactive approach and problem-solving mindset
- High level of confidentiality and ability to work independently while collaborating internationally
- Strong knowledge of French tax legislation and financial statements under French GAAP and US GAAP
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken) – essential
- Knowledge of Great Plains / Microsoft Dynamics GP is an advantage
- Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft Office skills
