Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to step up into a HLTA role?
A specialist SEN primary provision in East London is seeking a confident and proactive HLTA to support pupils with SEMH and neurodiverse needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on greater responsibility, including leading a class and delivering targeted interventions.
You will work closely with the Class Teacher and SLT to deliver structured, engaging learning linked to EHCP targets, while also supporting pupils' behaviour, attendance and emotional development.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead lessons from pre-prepared plans in teacher absence
- Provide 1:1 and small group support
- Manage behaviour using restorative approaches
- Monitor attendance and liaise with parents/carers
- Support EHCP targets and pupil progress
- Work with staff, families and external agencies
- Prepare resources and support classroom organisation
The school promotes a strong focus on consistency, relationships and re-engagement, helping pupils achieve positive long-term outcomes.
We are looking for someone who:
- Demonstrates strong behaviour management
- Has a good understanding of SEN (SEMH, ASD, etc.)
- Is confident leading a class when required
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills
- Is committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
A HLTA qualification (or willingness to work towards one) is desirable.
