About the Role
The DT Technician will work closely with teachers to support practical lessons, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe and organised workshop environment. The role is essential to the smooth running of the DT curriculum and student learning.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for practical DT lessons.
Setting up and clearing away workshop and classroom spaces before and after lessons.
Maintaining and repairing DT equipment and machinery, reporting faults as needed.
Ensuring all workshop areas comply with health and safety regulations.
Supporting students in practical lessons under the direction of teaching staff.
Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering materials and supplies.
Maintaining an organised storage system for materials, tools, and equipment.
Supporting teachers with demonstrations and practical activities.
Assisting with display of student work and departmental projects.
Keeping up to date with health and safety practices and contributing to risk assessments.
Candidate Requirements
The school is seeking a proactive, organised, and practical individual with technical skills and a passion for Design Technology.
Applicants should have:
Previous experience in a technical or workshop environment, ideally in a school or educational setting.
Practical knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in DT lessons.
