Year 6 Teacher - Welling

Marchant Recruitment
Bexley, Greater London

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Welling, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Upper Key Stage 2 and enjoys preparing pupils for secondary school while delivering engaging and high-quality lessons.

The school has a strong ethos of inclusion, collaboration, and high expectations. Staff work together to create a safe, structured, and stimulating environment where pupils feel confident, motivated, and supported. Senior leadership is approachable and committed to providing mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities to help staff succeed.

The Role

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the Key Stage 2 curriculum. You will support pupils’ learning in literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects while fostering independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours. Collaboration with teaching assistants, colleagues, and parents is central to ensuring that pupils receive consistent, personalised support.

You will monitor pupil progress, provide targeted interventions where needed, and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, engagement, and confidence. Preparing pupils for SATs and their transition to secondary school will be a key focus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 6 curriculum

  • Deliver engaging literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons

  • Prepare pupils effectively for SATs and secondary school transition

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL

  • Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours

  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment

  • Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records

  • Provide targeted interventions to support pupil attainment

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress

  • Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives

  • Support enrichment activities, school events, and extra-curricular opportunities

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective, adaptable, and proactive

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

  • Work effectively as part of a professional and supportive team

Location

The school is located in Welling, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, inclusive, and well-resourced working environment where collaboration, development, and wellbeing are prioritised.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit an up-to-date CV outlining your experience and suitability for the role.
