Consulting Manager

We’re growing our Consulting practice at NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) and are looking for a flexible, delivery-focused Consultant to join the team. This is a generalist consulting role, so you’ll work on a wide variety of projects from transformation and operational efficiency to procurement optimisation and workforce initiatives.
You’ll lead workstreams, manage medium-sized projects, and support the development of Junior consultants. Alongside delivering high-quality outcomes, you’ll help shape proposals and identify opportunities to keep us competitive in a financially constrained market. What you'll be doing:
- Lead and deliver specific project workstreams or medium-scale consulting projects.
- Work across diverse assignments including transformation, commercial improvement, operational efficiency, procurement optimisation, and shared services.
- Ensure high-quality outputs, timely delivery, and strong client satisfaction.
- Help shape consulting propositions, business cases, and bids in a competitive NHS environment.
- Build credibility and influence senior NHS partners to simplify complex problems and drive change.
- Line manage and develop junior consultants, supporting their growth and performance.
What you’ll bring:
- Consulting experience or strong NHS transformation/commercial/operational expertise.
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects and quickly learn new domains.
- Strong commercial understanding, including shaping proposals and assessing value.
- Proven experience delivering change, procurement, or operational efficiency projects.
- Excellent partner engagement and influencing skills.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
It would be great if you had:
- Experience in an established consultancy or public-sector specialist environment.
- Background in NHS procurement, commercial functions, shared services, or digital transformation.
- Knowledge of public sector frameworks and procurement processes.
- Understanding of NHS financial pressures and constraints.

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000
Benefits: 10% Bonus , £5,400 car allowance, 25 days annual leave with the option to buy additional days, private medical, life assurance, pension, and generous flexible benefits fund.
