Working at Thales OME Glasgow site, you will engage primarily with software and control engineers to investigate optimisation of real-time control loop algorithm execution times on a PIC32 platform, through the use of Matlab Simulink and C code.
This opportunity would suit a student from an Engineering or Computing discipline, and in particular, we are looking for students who have an interest in working with real-time embedded software.

Roles & Responsibilities:
You will:
- Further develop your programming skills in C
- Investigate potential areas which may improve execution times of control loop algorithms built with Simulink and hand-crafted C code, typically on a PIC32 microcontroller platform:
- Use of fixed point maths in Simulink
- PIC32 simulinik model startup times
- Creating custom code blocks where certain Simulink blocks introduce delays
- Restructuring of Simuilink models
- Optimisation settings for Simulink code generation
- Further develop an appreciation of hardware platforms
