A forward-looking primary school in Wandsworth is recruiting an inspiring Year 5 Teacher to begin in January 2026. The Year 5 Teacher will deliver a broad and challenging curriculum that strengthens pupils’ reasoning skills, fluency and extended writing. The successful Year 5 Teacher will be supported by subject leads and a strong senior team in Wandsworth. The Year 5 Teacher will take part in collaborative planning sessions and joint moderation, with induction activities scheduled in the run-up to January 2026 so that the Year 5 Teacher is ready to teach from the start of term.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver ambitious Year 5 lessons that combine knowledge acquisition with application.
• Use formative and summative assessment to set precise targets and adapt teaching strategies.
• Lead targeted small-group sessions to accelerate progress for identified pupils.
• Work with colleagues to moderate standards and develop cross-curricular projects for Year 5.
• Maintain strong communications with families and engage them in pupils’ learning journeys.

Person specification

• Qualified teacher with proven experience in KS2, ideally including Year 5 classroom success.
• Excellent subject knowledge, strong behaviour-management and organisational skills.
• Able to reflect on practice, take part in CPD and support phase improvement across Wandsworth.
• Committed to beginning the role in January 2026, with induction and planning before January 2026.
