Location - Sutton

Are you passionate about helping children and young people with complex needs achieve meaningful outcomes every day?

Do you believe every learner deserves an individualised education that celebrates their strengths, promotes independence and supports lifelong development?

Would you like to work within a specialist setting where therapy, education and wellbeing are fully integrated to provide exceptional support for pupils with additional needs?

We are supporting a highly regarded specialist SEN school seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEND Teacher to join their team from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established provision supporting children and young people with a range of complex learning needs, including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, communication needs and complex medical conditions.

The school prides itself on providing a nurturing, inclusive and highly personalised approach to education, ensuring every learner has access to meaningful learning experiences that support both academic and personal development.

Whether you already have experience within a specialist setting or are a mainstream teacher looking to transition into SEND, the school offers outstanding support, training and professional development opportunities.

The Role

You will lead a small class of pupils with complex additional needs, delivering highly personalised learning programmes designed around each learner's EHCP outcomes, communication profile and developmental needs.

Working alongside a highly experienced multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in creating engaging learning opportunities that support communication, independence, social development, emotional wellbeing and life skills.

Key responsibilities include:

Planning and delivering creative, engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs

Supporting pupils with Autism, PMLD, SLD, sensory processing differences and complex medical needs

Working collaboratively with Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and wider professionals

Using a range of communication strategies including AAC, Makaton, sensory-based learning and intensive interaction approaches

Contributing to EHCP reviews, annual reviews and target setting

Monitoring and recording pupil progress through personalised assessment frameworks

Creating a safe, structured and positive learning environment that enables pupils to thrive

Building strong relationships with parents, carers and external professionals

Supporting pupils with personal care, mobility and health needs where required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

A passion for supporting children and young people with SEND

Strong classroom management and differentiation skills

Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

A patient, adaptable and nurturing approach to teaching

The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

A commitment to inclusive, person-centred and child-focused education

Experience working within a specialist SEND setting is desirable but not essential

The School Offers:

Salary of £40,000 - £55,000 plus SEN Allowance

Excellent professional development and career progression opportunities

Specialist training and ongoing CPD

A collaborative multidisciplinary approach to education

Strong leadership support and mentoring

Small class sizes and excellent staffing ratios
