Reserving Actuarial Analyst, London

You’ll support reserving analysis, learn to implement actuarial models, and communicate insights clearly – working closely with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Role ResponsibilityAs our new Reserving Actuarial Analyst you will:
- Support the bi-annual valuation of reserving provisions and contribute to financial reporting.
- Assist in the quarterly booking of reserves and ad-hoc reserving analyses.
- Prepare and maintain actuarial models, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant policies and standards.
- Monitor actual versus expected experience and identify key areas for further investigation.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and communicate actuarial insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Take ownership of your professional development and stay up to date with actuarial best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the quality and integrity of data used in reserving processes, reconciling data from multiple sources.
- Support actuarial governance activities, including preparation for the Reserving Committee and related meetings.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve reserving methodologies and tools.
- Work effectively as part of a team, contributing positively to a supportive and engaging work environment.
We are looking for:
- Strong numerical ability with a logical and curious mindset; a passion for problem-solving and continuous learning.
- A 2:1 or above in a numerate degree.
- Experience or strong interest in working within an actuarial team environment.
- Genuine enthusiasm for becoming an actuary and developing a career in reserving.
- Proactive self-starter with excellent communication skills, able to explain ideas clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Team player who collaborates well and supports others; excellent Excel skills and eagerness to learn coding tools (e.g., VBA, SQL).
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage data effectively.
- Knowledge of medical insurance/indemnity and reserving experience or interest is a plus but not essential.
